PRACTICE
OVDA Studio is an architecture practice based in Newcastle, Australia. Our projects have taken us across the Hunter Valley, Central Coast and Mid North Coast, and we work with clients throughout New South Wales.
We work with clients who value good design and are looking for something unique to them — a thoughtful response to their site, their needs and the way they want to live.
Every project is different. Rather than prescribing a particular style, our designs develop from the people, places and individual circumstances that shape each brief. We consider interiors and exteriors together, with an emphasis on natural light, materiality and the relationship between buildings and their surroundings.
Working with OVDA Studio is a personal and collaborative experience. We take the time to understand our clients and what they hope to achieve, exploring possibilities together while balancing design ambition with practical considerations and budget.
As a small practice, we offer direct involvement throughout the design and construction process. We value open conversations, good working relationships and the contribution of skilled builders and craftspeople.
Our work includes new homes, alterations and additions, multi-residential developments, boutique accommodation, wineries and community projects. We take on a select number of projects, allowing us to give each the attention it deserves.

Olivia van Dijk

Olivia is the founder of OVDA Studio, with an interest in architecture and urban design at every scale — from the planning of cities and neighbourhoods to the smallest details of an individual building.
Olivia loves the process of making buildings — working through complex problems, testing ideas and figuring out how things go together. There’s something particularly satisfying about seeing an idea develop from an early sketch into a carefully resolved building.
Her interest in urban design extends beyond individual buildings to the spaces between them. She is particularly interested in how thoughtful urban density, the relationship between public and private spaces, and the arrangement of buildings and streets can create more connected, walkable and people-focused communities.
